The Media Operations section works to coordinate all media interviews, media queries and media access to Joint Base Langley-Eustis.

Media members visiting JBLE must be escorted by a Public Affairs representative at all times. Military members and civilian workers contacted by news media should liaise with the Public Affairs Office Media Operations section.

May 21, 2025 — The 33rd Marine Firefighting Symposium is a training course designed to challenge attendees and their ability to combine awareness and operations training while performing defensive level operations for a marine incident. The National Defense Reserve Fleet, known as the “ghost fleet”, was the training site for the symposium where firefighters loaded necessary gear and equipment to address marine emergencies in a simulated environment. Saluting Service During Police Week
May 20, 2025 — Police Week is an annual observance honoring the contributions of military and law enforcement officers. At JBLE, installation members hosted events from May 12-16, 2025, including a K-9 demonstration showcasing the role of military working dogs in security and law enforcement and a candlelight vigil providing a solemn moment for those honoring fallen officers. The week-long observance concluded with a ceremony recognizing the service and dedication of law enforcement personnel. First Aid for Four Legs: Members Train to Treat Canine Injuries
May 20, 2025 — That is why on May 8, 2025, the Langley Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF) hosted a Canine Tactical Combat Casualty Care course. F-22 Raptor Marks 20 Years of Operational Service
May 14, 2025 — The F-22 Raptor hit a milestone of operational service at Langley Air Force Base on May 12, 2025. It has been two decades since the arrival of the Air Force’s first combat-ready, fifth-generation aircraft to the 1st Fighter Wing on May 12, 2005. The first operational F-22 Raptor delivery to the 1st Fighter Wing on this day signaled the beginning of a new phase in the U.S. Air Force’s combat capability. Then-Lt. Col. James Hecker, commander of the 27th Fighter Squadron at the time, flew the first operational aircraft designated as ‘AF042’ from the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, to Langley AFB. “Timing is everything. I wasn’t supposed to be the first F-22 operational commander. It was going to be a guy by the name of Lt. Col. Scott ‘Papa’ Maw, but then the airplane delivery date slipped a little to the right, another squadron became available with the F-15 Eagle, so he took that command,” recounted Gen. James Hecker, who ultimately went on to serve as the commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa. ... MORE
