JOINT BASE LAGNELY-EUSTIS, Va. –
At approximately 4:30 am today, a vehicle entering the Fort Eustis main gate triggered an alert from explosive detection equipment indicating traces of explosive materials. As a precautionary measure, security personnel immediately initiated established safety protocols and conducted a more detailed inspection of the vehicle.
Following the thorough inspection, no explosive material was found. The main gate has resumed normal operations and there is no threat to the installation or the surrounding community.
The safety of our personnel, families, and community remains our top priority. We appreciate the swift response and coordination from local responders and our on-base emergency personnel who assisted in ensuring the safety and security of the installation.
