LEAD Peninsula visits JBLE

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. — Members of the Learn, Explore, Absorb and Disseminate (LEAD) Peninsula program visited Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, May 4, 2022, to learn about the role JBLE plays within the Virginia Peninsula community. LEAD Peninsula describe themselves as a community immersion program, which opens up opportunities to experience and understand the mosaic that is the Peninsula community.

Department of Defense Guidance for Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination Attestation and Screening Testing for Unvaccinated Personnel

Today, the Department of Defense released Force Health Protection Guidance (Supplement 23) which provides guidance for implementing additional force health protection and workplace safety measures directed by the White House Safer Federal Workforce Task Force to reduce the transmission of the virus that causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Wounded warriors share message of resiliency in Florida

I did not know I got shot,” said the sergeant. “I thought a flare hit my legs.” He was on his second deployment in Afghanistan in July 2011 serving on a combat search and rescue team. His mission was to recover wounded service members. “Going out and getting shot at” was routine, he said, as his unit averaged eight missions a day. On the day a bullet tore through his legs inside an HH 60 Pave Hawk helicopter, U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. August O’Niell, 414th Combat Training Squadron Detachment 1 flight chief in charge of ground operations at Davis-Monthan, Air Force Base, Arizona, said his world changed.

CSAF commemorates victory at Yorktown with French allies

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. — Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr. and French Air and Space Force Chief of Staff General Phillippe LaVigne, gathered at the Yorktown Victory Monument today to lay a commemorative wreath marking 240-years of the siege of Yorktown.

Physical fitness testing will resume July 1, 2021. Several changes have been made to the test to include increasing scoring for push-ups and sit-ups from 10 to 20 points each, five-year age groups and the waist measurement no longer being required. The Air Force has also worked on alternative strength and cardiovascular testing exercise options with plans to announce them in the coming weeks.

AF breaks down updated fitness test scores

WASHINGTON (AFNS) — Without the waist measurement as a scored component, push-ups and sit-ups will increase from 10 to 20 points each, while the 1.5-mile run will remain at 60 points. Scoring will fall into five-year age groups, as opposed to the previous 10.
