Heritage Flight honors last D-Day celebration

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. — The U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight team conducted a flyover in honor of the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the last celebration at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia, June 6, 2019. The four-ship formation included U.S. Air Force Maj. Paul “Loco” Lopez, F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team pilot, Maj. Garret “Toro” Schmitz, F-16 Viper Demonstration Team pilot, Capt. Andrew “Dojo” Olson, F-35 Lighting II Demonstration Team pilot, and Mr. Andrew McKenna, Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation P-51 Mustang pilot.

Red Flag adjusts for today’s challenges

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE — The 414th Combat Training Squadron (CTS), which oversees Red Flag, is making changes to the exercise for improved efficiency at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. Red Flag is a realistic multi-domain training exercise that maximizes the combat readiness and survivability of participants by providing a robust, accurate training environment. While early Red Flag exercises focused on survivability of combat pilots, Red Flag integrates the five core functions of the Air Force: Intelligence Reconnaissance Surveillance (ISR), Command and Control, Air Superiority, Strike and Personnel Recovery to ensure Airmen are ready for today’s fight.

Mission Complete: 53rd WEG concludes first post-Hurricane Combat Archer

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — F-22s from the 27th Fighter Squadron and F-35s from the 58th Fighter Squadron successfully flew over 140 sorties and fired 13 missiles to culminate the first post Hurricane Michael Combat Archer air-to-air exercise here Dec. 14.

Air Force proposes to base F-35s at Tyndall AFB, supplemental funds needed to build advanced fighter base

WASHINGTON (AFNS) — Following the damage to Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, caused by Hurricane Michael, the Air Force is recommending that Congress use supplemental funding for rebuilding the base to prepare to receive the F-35 Lighenting II fighter at the north Florida installation.
