JBLE 2022 Hurricane Season Readiness

One of the most significant natural disasters that Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia faces are hurricanes. The Atlantic Hurricane Season begins on June 1st and ends on November 30th each year. Now is the time for the JBLE community to ensure they’re hurricane prepared.

Joint Base NCO Corps strengthens “Core”

One way to strengthen a backbone is to strengthen one’s core. The U.S. Army Corps of non-commissioned Officers calls itself the “Backbone of the Army,” and May 2-5 newly promoted Army and Air Force non-commissioned officers at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, engaged in just that, with a week of physical, mental and leadership enhancing activities culminating in a Joint U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army induction ceremony, a tradition celebrating newly promoted NCOs.

Members of the Learn, Explore, Absorb and Disseminate (LEAD) Peninsula program visited Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, May 4, 2022, to learn about the role JBLE plays within the Virginia Peninsula community. LEAD Peninsula describe themselves as a community immersion program, which opens up opportunities to experience and understand the mosaic that is the Peninsula community.

The AFWERX program is the innovation arm of the Department of the Air Force which teams up with Airmen to procure innovative and revolutionary ideas to expand and better the processes within our Air Force. The Department’s annual innovation competition, Spark Tank, welcomes bright, enthusiastic inventors from all career fields to present their ideas and inventions for a chance to have their projects funded for further growth and expansion.

Transportation OCS Ribbon Cutting event honors Vietnam Era Army Officers

At the height of the Vietnam War, the U.S. Army couldn’t train enough officers for rapid deployment. The solution? Expand Officer Candidate School. Within this expansion, the need for aviation, truck and watercraft unit leadership was addressed with the Transportation Corps OCS, or TOCS, at Fort Eustis from 1966-1968.

U.S. Airmen returning home from a deployment to the United Arab Emirates, gather withfriends and family after departing from an aircraft at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, April 7,2022. Airmen from the 633d Air Base Wing, 1st Fighter Wing and 192d Wing worked inconjunction to short-notice deploy U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptors from the 27th
