Shovels Hit Dirt at Fort Eustis Gate

— Joint Base Langley-Eustis is beginning a long-planned renovation of the Fort Eustis main gate access control point to improve safety, security and traffic flow for personnel, visitors and commercial drivers. The $21.4 million project, overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District, will expand the gate from four to five entry lanes, add covered guard booths, and construct new facilities for privately owned vehicle and commercial vehicle inspections, along with a larger Visitor Control Center. Construction began in late 2025 and will occur in four phases through December 2027, with some temporary lane reductions expected during peak construction periods. Once complete, the upgraded gate will provide more efficient visitor processing and reduce wait times while improving overall installation security...
