When it comes to impacting the community, JBLE delivers
August 10, 2016 — Volunteers have an enormous impact on the health and well-being of their local community. Service members at Joint Base Langley-Eustis have embodied this belief and continuously find opportunities to get involved. “Meals on Wheels” is often used generically to refer to the home-delivered meals program, which is geared towards promoting better health, improving nutrition and reducing isolation and loneliness that impacts home-bound senior citizens. With limited or no access to families, friends, or proper nutrition, the daily meal delivery not only provides seniors with a nutritious meal but also a daily safety check by the volunteers. Over 280 homes are delivered meals up to three times a day by Meals on Wheels volunteers, with JBLE volunteers responsible for 32 of those 280 homes. ... MORE

JBLE parents prepare for new school year
August 3, 2016 — As summer draws to a close, Joint Base Langley-Eustis families may face stressors when preparing for the upcoming school year. Through organization, proper planning, communication and engagement, families can look forward to the adjustments and minimize the stressful situations that can occur with routine changes. Some of these routine changes include going to a new school, change of bed time, as well as changing daily activities... MORE

The American Psychological Association suggests parents practice their night-before school routine with children before school starts to prepare them for the new schedule. Hurricane preparation, tips to stay safe
August 2, 2016 — It is now hurricane season and members of the JBLE community should be prepared if a hurricane were to strike in the area. Some of the hazard risks that are associated with hurricanes are storm surges, high winds, inland flooding, tornadoes and power outages. To assist the JBLE community the following tips were provided by the Air Combat Command safety office to prepare and keep the community safe during the 2016 hurricane season, which runs through November 30. ...
