480th ISR Wing command chief: Airmen have 'immeasurable' potential

The 480th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing at Langley Air Force Base, Va.,  welcomed the newest member of its leadership team June 7, 2013, as Chief Master Sgt. Roger Towberman took the seat as the wing's command chief. Towberman, who most recently served as the superintendent of the 55th Electronic Combat Group at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., began his Air Force career in September 1990, and has held a variety of duties, including ground and airborne cryptologic language analyst, mission supervisor and superintendent. Fort Eustis first responders awarded international accreditation

October 8 to 12 is Fire Prevention Week, and the Fort Eustis Fire Department is geared up to ensure the post community can beat the heat and stay safe. The department will host a series of events throughout the week to educate Soldiers and families about fire safety, such as door-to-door visits in post housing, blood pressure checks, fire extinguisher demonstrations, and a fire station open house. Hampton set to celebrate 31st annual Bay Days festival

The 31st annual Hampton Bay Days is scheduled for Sept. 6-8, 2013, in downtown Hampton, Va. Langley completes dorm renovations

Olslavsky Hall is one of two Airman dormitories at Langley Air Force Base, Va., to undergo approximately $3 million in renovations and upgrades over the next two years. Contractors will replace HVAC units, plumbing and other ailing infrastructure, as well as expand and upgrade laundry and kitchen facilities, in Olslavsky and Renna Halls. Staff Sgt. Ty Carter receives Medal of Honor
August 27, 2013
President Barack Obama places the Medal of Honor around the neck of Staff Sgt. Ty M. Carter during a ceremony at the White House, Aug. 26, 2013.  During a 13-hour fire fight in Afghanistan, Carter, with complete disregard for his own safety, discarded his M-4 rifle, ran to a critically wounded Soldier caught in the open, and rendered life-extending first aid. He then carried the Soldier to medics as his team provided cover.
