AF updates officer, enlisted voluntary force management eligibility lists

Select Airmen in specific categories who were not formerly eligible for fiscal year 2014 force management voluntary separation are now being offered voluntary separation. These individuals will not be subject to involuntary programs in fiscal 2014. Officers from 33 Air Force specialty codes by year group and enlisted Airmen from seven AFSCs by grade are now eligible to apply for voluntary force management programs, such as voluntary separation pay, limited active-duty service commitment waivers and more, Air Force Personnel Center officials said April 3. In addition, officers in 70 AFSCs by year group and enlisted members in 178 AFSCs by grade are no longer eligible to apply for voluntary programs, and they will not meet an involuntary board in FY14. Commanders to nominate Airmen for developmental special duties

The U.S. Air Force has identified 10 specific developmental special duty assignments as part of an effort to drive Airmen into positions that positively impact the Air Force. Airmen in the rank of staff sergeant, technical sergeant and master sergeant are the focus of the nomination process, which was implemented to ensure the highest quality Airmen are placed in these positions. Physical training uniform shortages through summer

Airmen trying to keep chilly temperatures from affecting their workout may have a difficult time finding the Air Force improved physical training uniform, or IPTU, pants and jackets this spring and summer. There will be a transition period as the legacy stock is depleted and the new stock is ordered. The shorts have already transitioned and the T-shirt is not affected. Military students can turn good grades into rewards with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service's "You Made the Grade" program. From first-graders to high school seniors, pupils who maintain a B average or hbetter are eligible for the program that recognizes academic excellence. The "You Made the Grade" program rewards military students with a coupon booklet filled with free offers and discounts, including food and snack offers from restaurants located within the Exchange locations. Tight budget may force involuntary separations

The involuntary separation of Soldiers from the force may be necessary as the U.S. Army draws down in strength over the next few years, the service's vice chief of staff told members of Congress March 26, 2014. U.S. Army Gen. John F. Campbell said bringing the force down to 490,000 will probably require about 5,000 involuntary separations over the next three years, while bringing the end strength down to 450,000 Soldiers by 2019 will be even tougher.
