Team JBLE shines at Eagle Flag exercise

2nd Lt. Joseph Lindquist, 633rd Security Forces Squadron, fires an M-4 assault rifle at hostile forces during Exercise Eagle Flag at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., Aug. 17. More than 250 Airmen and Soldiers from Joint Base Langley-Eustis recently returned from the week-long training exercise, which is designed to measure units’ ability to deploy and operate in austere environments. Fort Eustis deployed Soldiers from the 688th Rapid Port Opening Element to deliver cargo from the airfield, while Langley Air Force Base deployed Airmen from the 633rd Mission Support Group to establish and operate an expeditionary base. ACC aviator garners federal recognition

Lt. Col. Shelly Black, deputy chief of Headquarters Air Combat Command’s Personnel Readiness Division, received the 2011 Federally Employed Women Military Meritorious Service Award July 18 at the 42nd National Training Program in Philadelphia, Penn., for her significant contributions in highlighting and improving women’s roles in the military. Colonel Black’s pioneering efforts in Air Force combat search and rescue made a significant impression on more than 1,000 members of the rescue community.
