Hampton set to celebrate 31st annual Bay Days festival

The 31st annual Hampton Bay Days is scheduled for Sept. 6-8, 2013, in downtown Hampton, Va. The festival will include an 8k race and a one-mile ”Color the Dolphin” fun run, a performance by the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band Blue Aces Ensemble from Langley Air Force Base, a competition showcasing high-flying canine athleticism, and a fireworks show. Langley completes dorm renovations

Olslavsky Hall is one of two Airman dormitories at Langley Air Force Base, Va., to undergo approximately $3 million in renovations and upgrades over the next two years. Contractors will replace HVAC units, plumbing and other ailing infrastructure, as well as expand and upgrade laundry and kitchen facilities, in Olslavsky and Renna Halls. Staff Sgt. Ty Carter receives Medal of Honor

President Barack Obama places the Medal of Honor around the neck of Staff Sgt. Ty M. Carter during a ceremony at the White House, Aug. 26, 2013.  During a 13-hour fire fight in Afghanistan, Carter, with complete disregard for his own safety, discarded his M-4 rifle, ran to a critically wounded Soldier caught in the open, and rendered life-extending first aid. He then carried the Soldier to medics as his team provided cover.
