COLONEL MARK A. MCCAULEY

Col. Mark A. McCauley is the commander, 192D Fighter Wing, Virginia Air National Guard, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va. He commands the first ANG unit to fly the F-22. As one of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and Director of the Air National Guard's Total Force Initiatives, he has been responsible for the execution and close of F-16C flying operations at Sandston, Va., while conducting the movement and standup of the 192D FW into a classic associate wing with the 1st FW flying the F-22 Raptor, 480th Intelligence Wing Distributed Ground Station, and the Global Logistic Support Center at JBLE, Va. 

Colonel McCauley earned his commission through Officer Training School, Medina Annex, Lackland AFB, Texas, in 1986. His aviation career began as an F-4E Weapons System Officer at Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. In 1989, he attended Undergraduate Pilot Training and continued his flying career in the F-16C (blocks 40 & 50) where he served operationally at Shaw AFB, S.C. He completed his active duty career as an operational test pilot and F-16C program manager in the 422nd Test & Evaluation Squadron, Nellis AFB, NV. He transitioned from active duty to full-time service in the Virginia Air National Guard flying the F-16C (block 30) in 1998. A command pilot with over 3,000 flying hours in the F-4E, F-16C, and F-22, his previous position was commander, 192D Operations Group, Virginia Air National Guard, JBLE, Va.
