Media members visiting JBLE must be escorted by a Public Affairs representative at all times. Military members and civilian workers contacted by news media should liaise with the Public Affairs Office Media Operations section.

633rd FSS spices up food services
November 2, 2016 — The 633rd Force Support Squadron has a new Director of Food and Beverage, James Belle, who will be the point of contact at the leadership level for all nonappropriated food service operations at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. Belle, who is responsible for overseeing all facets of food operations for all of the nonappropriated facilities at JBLE, has big plans for the facilities. ... MORE

Scholarship program provides assistance to military children
November 2, 2016 — Beginning Dec. 13, 2016 military families who shop at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, commissaries and have college-aged children can add an additional item to their to-do lists – drop off a Scholarships for Military Children application. Administered by the Fisher House Foundation, Inc., in partnership with the Defense Commissary Agency, the Scholarships for Military Children program offers $2,000 grants to those who enroll or plan to enroll full-time at a community college or a four-year college or university. According to Annette Roberts, Langley Air Force Base Commissary assistant store director, the program was created in 2001, and to date, more than 15 million in scholarship grants have been awarded from a group of over 85,000 applicants. ... Load crew competition challenges maintainers
November 2, 2016 — The 1st Maintenance Squadron hosted a Weapons Load Crew of the Quarter competition with the 94th and 27th Aircraft Maintenance Units competing, Oct. 28, 2016 at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. The competition is held every quarter and allows the load crews from each AMU to showcase their skills and abilities while loading the aircraft with munitions. ... MORE

Langley’s Lt. O’Hollearn places 13th in Armed Forces Marathon
November 2, 2016 — If not for suffering a broken collar bone and concussion, from a bad landing on his dirt bike at age-14, 2nd Lt. Sean O’Hollearn may not have discovered his love for running. That passion empowered him to finish in 13th place, overall, at the Armed Forces Championship, in the 41st Marine Corps Marathon, Oct. 30 in Washington D.C. His 2:35:58 clocking, at a 5:56 per mile clip, was his first marathon. The registered nurse, at Langley AFB’s 633d medical group, won September’s half-marathon at Wright-Patterson AFB with a time of 1:14:37... MORE
