CSAF commemorates victory at Yorktown with French allies

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. — Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr. and French Air and Space Force Chief of Staff General Phillippe LaVigne, gathered at the Yorktown Victory Monument today to lay a commemorative wreath marking 240-years of the siege of Yorktown.

Remember the fallen: JBLE commemorates Memorial Day

Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va. — Joint Base Langley-Eustis commemorated Memorial Day with a series of events from May 17 to May 27. The 733rd Mission Support Group and U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command worked together to organize the festivities. The commemoration, known as "Remember the Fallen," included sports events, an obstacle course, a 5K run and a drill and ceremony contest by Advanced Individual Training students. The memorial observances culminated with a retreat ceremony at Seay Plaza and a concert by country artist Austin Moody at the TRADOC stage.

Physical fitness testing will resume July 1, 2021. Several changes have been made to the test to include increasing scoring for push-ups and sit-ups from 10 to 20 points each, five-year age groups and the waist measurement no longer being required. The Air Force has also worked on alternative strength and cardiovascular testing exercise options with plans to announce them in the coming weeks.

AF breaks down updated fitness test scores

WASHINGTON (AFNS) — Without the waist measurement as a scored component, push-ups and sit-ups will increase from 10 to 20 points each, while the 1.5-mile run will remain at 60 points. Scoring will fall into five-year age groups, as opposed to the previous 10.

1st Fighter Wing Raptors deploy to support WestPac

In the darkness, Defenders train to be ready

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. — As the sun sets behind the tree line, darkness consumes the training ground and takes with it the sights and sounds many are accustomed to during the day. The roar of the nighttime insects fills the air and creates an almost deafening sound as one tries to get their bearings. The rustle of footsteps can barely be heard over the insects, creating an uneasy feeling that someone is there, even though they cannot be seen.
