JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. - Graphic made for social media in honor of Purple Heart Day, Aug. 7, 2017. The Purple Heart was originally established by Gen. George Washington in 1782. It is presented to any person wounded in action while serving with the armed forces of the United States.
