JBLE hosts medical equipment summit

The Air Combat Command Surgeon General Office hosted the Manpower and Equipment Force Packaging Summit at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, June 4, 2019. Members from various U.S. Air Force major commands attended the summit to view demonstrations and capabilities that may boost efficiency in the Expeditionary Medical Systems field. Summit attendees, including members from the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command, Air Combat Command, Pacific Air Forces and the Air Force Medical Operations Agency, examined modern medical shelter options in an effort to revitalize patient care in challenging environments.

Air, land, sea: boating on land

When it comes to watercraft, not many think of the U.S. Army. However, the Army has a fleet of more than 130 watercraft and every one of their watercraft operators has been through a course at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. The U.S. Army Transportation School, Maritime & Intermodal Training Department here has various watercraft simulations used for training such as the Full Mission Bridge, the Small Craft Bridge, the Expeditionary Fast Transport Simulator and the Vessel Defense Simulator.

A day pinned in remembrance

In honor of the U.S. Vietnam War Commemoration, the Defense Commissary Agency and Army and Air Force Exchange Service hosted a Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin presentation ceremony at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, March 29, 2019. The pins were presented to U.S. Veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time between November 1, 1955 and May 15, 1975.

Refurbished aircraft provides operational training

The CH-47 Chinook and the UH-60M Blackhawks are advanced multi-purpose helicopters but with a different set of missions. However, one thing is consistent with both aircraft – the U.S. Army Soldiers that work on them. The 128th Aviation Brigade ensures that the Soldiers’ training is realistic, relevant, and rigorous, enabling them to make a positive impact at their first duty assignment. One of the ways the Soldiers are trained is with the various Chinook and the Blackhawk trainers.

The Engagement Skills Trainer is designed to simulate live weapon training to support and aid in weapons qualifications for the Soldiers of Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
