1st FW reopens hypobaric chamber
U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 1st Operations Support Squadron’s Aerospace Physiology Flight and Air Combat Command pose for a group photo in celebration of the re-opening of the hypobaric chamber at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, Oct. 11, 2022. The hypobaric chamber is designed to simulate the effects of high altitude on the human body in a controlled environment. The chamber went into a “mothball” status in 2014, but reopened as an active training device that, together with the Aerospace Physiology Flight, will now support a region of more than 24 states and several hundred permanent party officers and enlisted flyers from across the JBLE community.
