TRADOC top two reflect on leading the ‘architect of the Army’
U.S. Army Gen. David G. Perkins, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command commanding general, took time to mentor the leaders of tomorrow’s Army while visiting University of Kentucky Army ROTC cadets during the 2017 Association of the United States Army Annual Meeting and Exposition, Oct. 9, 2017, in Washington, D.C. Perkins will relinquish command of TRADOC to Gen. Stephen J. Townsend March 2 at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. In a separate ceremony March 1, TRADOC deputy commander Lt. Gen. Sean B. MacFarland will retire after 37 years of Army service. Over the last 10 months of their assignments together, both generals and their staffs have advocated for better officer, civilian and noncommissioned officer training and education.
