Fort Eustis engineer divers repair flooding Coast Guard vessel
U.S. Army Sgt. David Dilmore assists Spc. Michael Higginbotham, both divers assigned to the 511th Engineer Dive Detachment, as he exits the water after completing repairs to the propeller shaft tube of a damaged U.S. Coast Guard vessel at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Jan. 22, 2016. The engineer divers also repaired a crack and holes in the hull of the 110-foot vessel, which allowed the Coast Guard to remove two $3 million engines inside the vessel without significant water damage and maintain the repaired vessel as a training asset while mitigating potential diesel fuel leakage into the surrounding harbor.
