Fort Eustis holds open house, Public Lands Day events
Mr. McDaid fields questions outside the Matthew Jones House from members of Boy Scout Troop 43. Matthew Jones was an early settler of Mulberry Island who owned the tract in the mid-17th century and operated a mill at the head of the Poquoson River in York County. His grandson, Matthew Jones II of Isle of Wight County, inherited the land and built the house about 1727.
