A Security Forces patrolman uses a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) scanner to determine authorization to enter a military installation. The system provides a means for automated installation entry control, where identification cards can be verified against databases or restricted lists, eliminating entry fraud. Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va. will begin using DBIDs the week of July 8, with full implementation taking place over a 90-day window. (U.S. Air Force photo/Frank H. Carter)
