The history of Fort Crafford, Fort Eustis' Civil War relic
Fort Crafford, formally the home of the Crafford family during the Civil War, is now a preserved war fortification at Fort Eustis, Va., Aug. 10, 2012. Estimated to have been built between 1730 and 1750, Confederate State Army troops occupied the land around the family farm in 1861. After they left, the home was still occupied until it was sold in 1918 to the government for the establishment of Camp Eustis. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Ashley Hawkins/Released)
