Breaking ground for new youth center
Along with the help of children from the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Youth Center, Captain Lowell Crow, Naval Weapons Station Yorktown commanding officer, broke ground on the new $3.8 million MWR Youth Center for the installation. The new center, which will take roughly nine months to complete, will have an increased capacity for 90 kids (up from the current 30) and will lessen the environmental impact on the installation by lowering water and electricity consumption. Breaking ground with the gold shovels are, from left to right, Youth Center Director Tina Mullins, Naomi McLean, Captain Lowell Crow, CMDCM(AW/SW) Dominick Torchia, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Command Master Chief, and Cameron Wells.
