Generational trauma: Former Chief reflects on family history of illness
An African American male is tested and treated during the Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the study began in 1932 as U.S. Public Health Service medical personnel conducted these tests without the benefit of patients’ informed consent.
