U.S. Army Spc. Michael Visser, 690th Rapid Port Opening Element cargo specialist, joined the Army in 2010 as a way to escape a trouble home life in Redondo Beach, Calif. Since then, Visser has found purpose and meaning not only in his Army career, but in helping young people avoid drug and alcohol abuse and find the good in life by pulling on his personal experiences and volunteering in the community.
