Son of legendary master diver meets 511th Dive Detachment Soldiers
U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Phillip Brashear, an Army Reserve CH-47 Chinook pilot with the 5th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, holds a photograph of his late father, Carl Brashear, during a visit to the 511th Dive Detachment at Fort Eustis, Va., March 1, 2013. Carl Brashear was the first African-American to become a U.S. Navy master diver, and retired from the Navy as a master chief petty officer. While visiting the detachment, Phillip told current Army divers about his father's triumphs and success in the face of adversity, and thanked them for continuing the legacy of military divers.
