The Front Line: Staff Sgt. Diana Sturdivant

By Headquarters Air Combat Command A1 Directorate of Manpower, Personnel and Services

Front Line Warrior:
Staff Sgt. Diana Sturdivant

Deployed Unit: U.S. Forces Afghanistan J1

Duty Title: Strength Management NCOIC

Home unit: Headquarters Air Combat Command A1 Directorate of Manpower, Personnel and Services

Hometown: Perth Amboy, N.J.

Time in Service: Active duty Air Force six years

Describe your deployed duty and the tools you use to accomplish it: I am responsible for accurately accounting for U.S. Forces Afghanistan and reporting to U.S. Central Command. My job sometimes requires traveling around the country providing training to our subordinate units.

What do you bring to the fight? Having previously worked in customer service related positions, I am capable of providing accurate information to anyone from combatant commanders to the President of the United States.

What are you overall thoughts and opinions about your mission there? I definitely feel it is very important. Knowing how many Servicemembers are in the country and being able to identify where each member is located is what I feel as serving a purpose.

Supervisor Comments: Sergeant Sturdivant's professionalism and expertise directly influence the Congressional Boots-On-Ground report submitted weekly to Congress by the Joint Staff. I have the utmost confidence in her whether it be covering down the office while others travel or sending her personally on missions throughout the country as my lead in training reporting units and other NCOs within our cell.

In the six months that we have worked together in this joint environment, I have watched her grow into an impressive NCO, taking on responsibilities beyond her pay grade. I look forward to working with her for the duration of our deployments.
