The Front Line: Tech. Sgt. Jeffery Benjamin

By 15th Intelligence Squadron Air Combat Command

Front Line Warrior:
Tech. Sgt. Jeffery Benjamin

Deployed Unit: Provincial Reconstruction Team Panjshir, Afghanistan

Duty Title: Intelligence NCOIC

Home Unit: 15th Intelligence Squadron

Hometown: Warner-Robins, Ga.

Time in Service: Active duty Air Force 17 years

Describe your deployed duty and the tools you use to accomplish it: I provided necessary threat information and situation updates prior to daily missions and convoys. I was my deployed commander's intelligence focal point and a member of his support staff.

What do you bring to the fight? Intelligence brings the capability to analyze historical trends and provide predictive analysis with the intent of saving troops' lives and protecting them from the primary killer, improvised explosive devices.

What are you overall thoughts and opinions about your mission there? A PRT's mission is to build capacity and my job was to ensure the members of the PRT were able to execute their mission safely. Knowing I was helping people was very rewarding. Additionally, working with the Department of State, United States Agency for International Development, United States Department of Agriculture and other non-governmental organizations showed me first hand the other side of diplomacy.

Supervisor Comments: Sergeant Benjamin is my go-to unit support NCOIC. He always demonstrates superior mission intelligence support expertise and leadership. He was the right man for his deployed mission; a combat proven leader and adept mentor to his Airmen.
