The Front Line: Tech. Sgt. Timothy Schippers

By 633rd Air Base Wing 633d Logistics Readiness Squadron

Front Line Warrior: Tech. Sgt. Timothy Schippers

Deployed Unit: 380th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron

Duty Title: Bulk Storage noncommissioned officer in charge

Home Unit: 633rd Logistics Readiness Squadron

Hometown: Grand Rapids, Mich.

Time in Service: Active duty Air Force 20 years, three months

Describe your deployed duty and the tools you use to accomplish it: Manage eight Air Force members to receive, store and transfer two different grades of jet fuel as well as diesel and motor gasoline. My tools include 16 Force Operational Readiness Capability Equipment pieces of equipment to accomplish the mission in upwards of 500,000 gallons of jet fuel daily and about 13 million gallons monthly.

What do you bring to the fight?
The two different grades of jet fuel we process is redistributed throughout the entire AOR in the form of aerial delivery to fighter aircraft, which in turn support ground combat and peace keeping missions. Additionally, we directly support critical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations aiding in aerial combat support and ground forces combat engagements.

What are you overall thoughts and opinions about your mission there? I feel that there is purpose in our mission here, with the level of fuel moved through this base and the reports of success from locations throughout the AOR, my time is definitely valuable here. My presence here is making a difference, as this facility is continually building and upgrading, becoming more of a permanent landmark in the region.

Supervisor Comments:
Sergeant Schippers has been a tremendous asset to our team and the mission in Southwest Asia. His abilities to manage the 380th wings only receipt capability is a testament to his hard work and dedication to operations Enduring Freedom, New Dawn and Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa. Furthermore, he maintained a $127-million system that fuels our 500,000 gallon daily demand rate to ensure the Air Tasking Order is met on time, every time! I would welcome Sergeant Schippers to my team any day.
