Describe your deployed duty and the tools you use to accomplish it: Prior to deployment, we participated in a weeklong training program that explained the concept of CASF. The CASF is 25-bed patient care facility that serves as the strategic hub for all Operation Enduring Freedom aeromedical evacuation missions. With exceptional supervision and training, the 455th CASF was able to complete the mission.
What do you bring to the fight? As a clinical nurse, I have the attributes to provide healthcare to wounded warriors, whether it is combat related or non-combat related injuries.
What are you overall thoughts and opinions about your mission there? This mission has been very rewarding. This year alone,we've had 474 missions and treated 4,190 patients, including 317 critical care patients. It is good to know we can assist the movement of these patients to a higher echelon of care so they can receive the appropriate medical treatment. I have an utmost respect for our men and women contributing to this war.
