The Front Line: Staff Sgt. Brock Davis

By Air Force Targeting Center 36th Intelligence Squadron

Front Line Warrior: Staff Sgt. Brock Davis

Deployed Unit: United States Forces-Iraq J2 CM&D

Deployed Duty Title: Collections Requirements noncommissioned officer in charge

Home Unit: 36th Intelligence Squadron

Hometown: Mexico, N.Y.

Time in Service: Active duty Air Force 9.5 years

Describe your deployed duty and the tools you use to accomplish it: I am responsible for receiving, processing and coordinating theater and national level geo-spatial intelligence requirements in support of four major subordinate commands. Execution of those requirements ensures the personnel of the United States Forces - Iraq and the Iraqi Army receive the necessary support for the multiple missions accomplished during Operation New Dawn. I went through five weeks of Combat Skills Training for this tour in Iraq.

What do you bring to the fight? Being an Intelligence analyst, I can successfully adjudicate between higher-level and lower-level echelons to establish precedence of geo-spatial intelligence requests according to the Commanding General's Priority Intelligence Requirements while still satisfying objectives needed by subordinate units.

What are you overall thoughts and opinions about your mission there? The job here is very rewarding. While I am not doing my traditional targeting intelligence job that I do in the States, I feel like I am supporting the mission in ways I never thought I would be qualified to do. I have met amazing people working here in a joint/combined environment, and this deployment has renewed my desire to give the military another 10+ years.

Supervisor Comments: Sergeant Davis is a great NCO, and has proven to be an invaluable asset to the team here at USF-I. With his effective managerial skills, Sergeant Davis has efficiently resolved task conflictions to ensure all customer needs are met. He has consistently filled a billet reserved for a higher-ranking NCO and exhibited professionalism and leadership qualities to show that he deserves that role.
