LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
Front Line Warrior: Staff Sgt. Kristy Karrick
Deployed Unit: 455th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron
Duty Title: Logistics Plans Journeyman
Home Unit: 633rd Logistics Readiness Squadron
Hometown: Houstonia, Mo.
Time in Service: Active-duty Air Force five years
Describe your deployed duty and the tools you use to accomplish it: At Bagram we use several sources from other agencies. We pull information from CoPs based off of the needs of Unit Travel Reps to help them to better redeploy their members back to home-station. We also work with deployed operations and maintenance units to help them redeploy to home-station, similar to how we help ops and maintenance units deploy.
What do you bring to the fight? We ensure a smooth transition for deployed members to make it back to home station.
What are you overall thoughts and opinions about your mission there? This is my first deployment, and so far, it's been rewarding. To see people so happy when you help them as they only have days left in the area of responsibility, it makes you feel fulfillment for doing your job.
Supervisor Comments: "Staff Sgt. Karrick took the lead in improving several programs here at [Bagram Air Field] to ensure members redeploy on time. She ensures all 455th Air Expeditionary Wing members are accounted for by coordinating movement for members across Bagram and four Forward Operating Bases. Staff Sgt. Karrick spearheaded the 389th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron's unit redeployment for an 18-ship, F-15 aviation package."
