Resolute Warrior Spotlight: Meet Capt. Terrence Parker

By Sgt. 1st Class Kelly Jo Bridgwater 7th Sustainment Brigade Public Affairs

Capt. Terrence Parker, a 34-year old Adjutant General Corps officer from Orlando, Fla., and currently assigned to the 7th Sustainment Brigade's S-1 section, is this week's Resolute Warrior Spotlight.

His work as the brigade adjutant requires savvy human resource skills and a flexible and tenacious spirit.

Enlisting in the Army first as an armored crewman in 1996 and later switching to the field of multimedia specialist, Captain Parker's natural inclination to lead from the front led him to the path of becoming a commissioned officer.

In December 2006, that is precisely what he did.

"Throughout my life, I was told I had leadership potential," said the easy going and friendly Soldier from his office in the brigade's headquarters. "When I was a Boy Scout (he achieved Eagle Scout) and during my time in Navy JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) at Maynard Evans High School in Orlando, this is what I had consistently been told."

It is a favorite quote that provides inspiration and motivation to Captain Parker and one he wishes to share.

"Remember, if you're not encouraging, you're discouraging," he said. "You have to make the best of things; these are words I live by."

Don't think for a moment that all work and no play are the mainstay for this dedicated Resolute Warrior.

"I love culinary arts and one day hope to own my own restaurant specializing in international desserts," he said. "It is the creativity I find enjoyable; trying to figure out what pleases each person."

Leading from the front and choosing the path of positive reinforcement are what it's all about for Captain Parker. When asked if he had any words of wisdom he'd like to put forth, the future chef had this to say, "To all of the Army's AG Soldiers I want to say, take pride in what you do."
