The Front Line: Staff Sgt. Creighton Chilcote

By Air Combat Command 82d Communications Support Squadron

Front Line Warrior: Staff Sgt. Creighton Chilcote

Deployed Unit: 405th Air Expeditionary Group, 405th Expeditionary Support Squadron Communications Flight, Southwest Asia

Duty Title: NCO in charge of the Inside/Outside Communications Plant

Home Unit: 82nd Communications Support Squadron

Hometown: Altoona, Penn.

Time in Service: Active-duty Air Force eight years

Describe your deployed duty and the tools you use to accomplish it: I engineer, install, maintain and repair all base cabling to include fiber optics, coax, cat5 and copper for unclassified and classified systems. I use experience from my previous assignments and technical school training, along with my current homestation' s on-the-job training to help me successfully accomplish our mission.

What do you bring to the fight? We supply the Comm. network infrastructure allowing the team here to launch, coordinate and communicate down range missions to provide much needed gear to the warfighters.

What are you overall thoughts and opinions about your mission there? I love being a part of the mission here because we have a direct impact on saving lives in the AOR. There's nothing more rewarding to a member of the Armed Forces than knowing the mission you have saved another member's life. I truly feel special to be a part of the 405th.

Supervisor Comments:
Sergeant Chilcote and the rest of his team persevere thru adversity, and rise to the challenge that a tactical network infrastructure presents. Without him, we could not get the mission done. With the continued expansions of the base, he helped lay over 100,000 feet of Cat-5 and Fiber cables interconnecting facilities and adding Comm. to new ones. He truly is an asset, on an off duty, having led our Squadron basketball team to many victories. I am truly proud to serve with him.
