JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. –
At Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., the Federal government shutdown has impacted several agencies across Langley Air Force Base and Fort Eustis.
Below is a list frequently-used organizations both affected and unaffected by the shutdown.
MEDICAL CARE
USAF Hospital Langley
- While some civilian personnel will be furloughed, Patient Care will remain unaffected.
- All inpatient and wounded warrior care activities will continue. Outpatient care will be provided.
- Elective medical/dental surgeries/procedures will be curtailed unless attending provider assesses threat to life/limb.
- Pharmacies, labs and radiology will continue to provide service - to include refill of medication.
- Medical/Dental readiness support and emergency response will continue.
- Accreditation dependent GME medical care activities will continue and are considered excepted functions under shut-down guidance.

McDonald Army Health Center
- All inpatient and wounded warrior care activities will continue. Outpatient care will be provided.

CHILD CARE
Langley Child Development Center
- No change in normal operations.
Fort Eustis Child Development Center
- No change in normal operations.
HOUSING
Bethel Manor Housing
- No change in normal operations.
- Hunt Military Communities will continue to be at work to support residents and families regardless of a possible government shutdown. Residents and family members will not be asked to move from their homes due to non-payment of rent as a result of a government furlough, if it shall occur. Additionally, if any government transportation challenges arise with movement of goods, Hunt will not force families to move from their homes in the event they are unable to schedule transportation of their belongings.
Balfour Beatty Communities
- No change in normal operations.
- In the event that military pay and/or BAH is interrupted, Balfour Beatty will not require rent for active duty and reserve residents to be paid out of pocket. Rent will become due and payable once the government furlough is over and Service members have received their BAH. No late fees or other penalties to accounts will be imposed. FAMILY & READINESS OPERATIONS
Airman & Family Readiness Center
- All classes are cancelled. The following services will be open: Air Force Aid Society Assistance, Pre-deployments/Re-integration briefings and Casualty Assistance.
- VA Contractors may not be available. Call (757) 764-3990 for more information.
Fort Eustis Army Community Services
- Closed in the event of a government shut-down. There is limited access to information, referrals, crisis and intervention services. No classes are occurring.
- Patrons are encouraged to use Army Emergency Relief or the Red Cross during this time.
ID & ACCESS SERVICES
Langley Military Personnel Flight
- MPF Customer Service function will be shut down on Tuesday and remain shut down until further notice.
- No change in normal operations of the Force Management, Career Development and NAF HR offices.
- The Civilian Personnel services will be limited.

Eustis Military ID Services
- No change in normal operations.
Eustis Pass & ID Office
- Will close, but there will be no direct impact to Service members.
- For extended passes, call the Eustis Law Enforcement Desk at (757) 878-4555.
- All vehicle registration and contractor identification services [access badges] are suspended until further notice. Please direct any questions/concerns to Charlene Campbell at Charlene.e.campbell.civ@mail.mil or (757) 878-4552.

- In the event of a shutdown, stateside commissaries, including Alaska and Hawaii, will be open for a full business day on Oct. 1 to reduce the amount of perishables on-hand before beginning a systematic closure process to account for unsold products and secure facilities.
- Currently both Langley and Fort Eustis commissaries are closed until further notice.

EDUCATION
Langley Education Office
- No Education Center testing (AFIADL (PME), CDC, ACT, SAT, DLPT, GED, GRE, GMAT, DSST, Praxis, etc.). No Education Counseling and No Transcript/Degree Plan Approval (prerequisite to TA submission) and No TA approvals.
- Evening classes and current enrollments are unaffected by the shutdown.

MORALE WELFARE & RECREATION
Fort Eustis Morale Welfare & Recreation
- The following MWR Services have normal operating hours: School Age Services, Family Child Care, Central Registration, Military Personnel, Army Career and Alumni Program, Lodging, Non-Appropriated Fund Civilian Personnel Office, Pines Golf Course, Information Tickets and Tours, Bowling Center, Laundry, Frame Shop, Outdoor Recreation, CYS Instruction Classes and Youth Sports.
- The following FSD/MWR Services will have normal operating hours but limited services for intake, screening, info and referral and crisis intervention: MWR Warehouse - [Payment for rentals such as tables and chair, bounce houses, tents, etc. will be done at ITT, building 671 Lee Blvd., prior to pick up. Reservations will continue to be taken at (757) 878-1718]
- The following FSD/MWR Services are closed: Teen Center, Recreation Center, Auto Crafts and Marketing.
Langley Force Support
- The following FSS offices and programs have normal operating hours: Lodging, Youth and Teen Programs, Eaglewood Golf Course, Information Tickets and Tours, Bowling Center, Laundry, Community Center, Arts and Crafts, Auto Skills and Outdoor Recreation.
- The Youth Center programs are open Monday - Friday 3 pm. until 7 p.m., and closed Saturday. School Age programs are open Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
- All Youth Sports home games are cancelled. Basketball registration has been postponed to start Oct. 15.
TRAVEL
Langley Travel Management Office
- The Langley TMO is open Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Fort Eustis Travel Office
- The Fort Eustis TO is open and operating under normal conditions.
PASSPORT OFFICE/MULTIMEDIA CENTER
- The Langley Passport office is closed due to the government shutdown. However, the Fort Eustis passport office, at (757) 878-0925, is open by appointment only. Langley personnel may utilize the Eustis office. Unfortunately, the office may not be able to forward passport paperwork to the state office for final approval.
- Additionally, both the Langley Public Affairs office, at (757) 764-5701; and the Fort Eustis Multimedia Center, at (757) 878-4831, are open for studio and passport photos.
