The Langley African-American Heritage Council hosted a wreath-laying ceremony in honor of U.S. Army 1st Lt. Ruppert Sargent, a Medal of Honor recipient, at the Hampton National Cemetery in Hampton, Va., Nov. 11, 2013. While investigating a reported Viet Cong meeting house and weapons cache in the Hau Nghia Province in the Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam War, Sargent threw himself on two enemy hand grenades, sacrificing himself and saving the lives of two Soldiers nearby.
