Langley Airmen urged to prepare for force management programs

By Senior Airman Brittany Paerschke-O'Brien, Airman 1st Class Kimberly Nagle and Airman 1st Class Areca T. Wilson 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

The 633rd Force Support Squadron Military Personnel Section held briefings at Langley Air Force Base Jan. 14 to help prepare Airmen for fiscal year 2014 officer and enlisted force management programs.

In order to meet budget reduction requirements as a result of sequestration, the U.S. Air Force announced in December 2013 plans to implement force management programs to reduce its force by up to 25,000 Airmen over the next five years.

The enlisted retention program is one of several expanded force management programs that will be implemented, as well as enlisted quality force review boards, officer force shaping board, enhanced selective early retirement boards, a reduction in force board, and officer and enlisted voluntary separation pay incentives for Airmen in non-critical, overage specialties. Eligibility requirements will vary for enlisted Airmen and officers.

For more specific information on these programs, Service members can visit myPers and type "25484" into the search bar.

Airmen are also encouraged to ensure records held in the Personnel Records Display Application are up to date before meeting retention boards.

PRDA was developed in 2009 after the Air Force transitioned from a paper-based personnel record system to electronic-based. PRDA contains an Airman's complete electronic military record and can be accessed through the Air Force Portal. The application is also role-based, which gives supervisors access and the capability to view subordinates' records on the PRDA dashboard.

"It is critical Airmen take the time to ensure their information is accurate or not missing any critical documentation," said Lt. Col. Carol Gordon, Air Force Personnel Center Operations Support Division chief.

If a mistake in the records is found, Airmen are advised to contact their local MPS for further action.

The 633rd MPS plans to hold future briefings to keep Airmen updated on any changes to the force management programs.

For more information, Airmen can contact the MPS at 764-2270, however, Airmen are encouraged to visit myPers for the most up-to-date information.
