LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. –
The U.S. Air Force Hospital Langley emergency room is scheduled to move to a new location in the hospital, Feb. 26 at 11:59 p.m., while still maintaining full operating status.
The emergency room will move adjacent to the newly remodeled pharmacy to a space that will more than double its previous size of 4,000 sq. feet to more than 9,385 sq. feet. The space will be comprised of a new waiting area and upgrade from a 14-bed establishment to 17, to give patients the best quality service possible.
"The new facility will provide us with the space and resources to accommodate our patients," said Capt. Victoria Agle-Wilson, 633rd Medical Operations Squadron emergency room flight commander.
The emergency room, which became fully-functional in 2010 as a part of the 633rd Medical Group, serves a patient population of approximately 40,000 active-duty members, their families and retirees. It focuses on personalized care and puts emphasis on a patient-centric approach to medicine in crisis situations.
Although the facility will come with a new look, Agle-Wilson assures the emergency room will still offer the same great care as it always has.
"The new look won't alter anything associated with the ER," said Agle-Wilson. "Although our location is changing, our quality service will stay the same."
