FORT EUSTIS, Va. –
A Volunteer of the Quarter ceremony was held at Fort Eustis Feb. 19, hosted by U.S. Army Col. William Galbraith, 733rd Mission Support Group commander, to recognize the dedication and commitment of the post's humanitarians.
The volunteer recognition program allows each organization to nominate a volunteer who had a significant impact on the community during a designated time frame. Volunteers play a vital role in supporting community organizations, said Galbraith.
"We are here to recognize folks who go above and beyond to help support the Soldiers who are completing the mission," said Galbraith. "Without their dedication, a lot of important community ties and programs would not exist."
In addition to recognizing the volunteers, the ceremony also included a check presentation to General Stanford elementary school from the General Mills Box Tops for Education program for 20,000 box-top points, which allows schools to raise money by collecting box tops from cereal boxes and various other General Mills food items, and will be given to the school in a form of monetary donation.
