Langley Base Exchange gets a new look

By Staff Sgt. Wesley Farnsworth 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Customers who frequent the Base Exchange at Langley Air Force Base will soon see renovations taking place.

The Exchange, expected to receive the contract by end of February 2014, will begin construction mid-March 2014.

"Renovations are projected to last approximately eight months," said Rita Sheridan, Exchange manager. "However, we will remain open during our normal business hours."
The first areas to be affected by the renovations will be the ladies', boys', girls' and infant apparel sections.

"As areas begin renovation, we will relocate the merchandise to a different area in the store," Sheridan said. "Once renovations are complete, the merchandise will be returned so the next area can be [completed]."

Additionally, renovations to the food court will begin March 2014, as Pizza Hut replaces Anthony's Pizza and Arby's is added.

"Construction in the food court should take about nine weeks," Sheridan said. "A walkway between the food court and pharmacy will still be open; however, it will be smaller as construction walls go up."

Sheridan says the renovations will benefit customers.

"We are very excited for these renovations to begin," Sheridan said. "If customers experience any frustration with the renovations, I encourage them to talk directly with one of the managers on duty."

By completion of the project, the customer service area, currently located in the back of the store, will be moved to the front. The main entrance of the exchange will also be moved toward the barber shop, said Sheridan.

Once all construction is completed the Exchange will feature an improved look and layout, as well as increased shopping space.
