LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, VA –
U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Bryan Battaglia, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, visited Langley Air Force Base, March 7, 2014.
Battaglia, who serves as the principle advisor to the CJCS on all joint and combined total force matters, made the trip to learn about Langley Airmen and their mission.
Battaglia's visit began by meeting with Airmen and their spouses for breakfast at the Crossbow Dining Facility, where he discussed teamwork and how it applied in the military and marriage.
Afterwards, the SEAC spoke to the Airman Leadership School about being a noncommissioned officer and some of the challenges they might face, such as separating from friends because of the newly acquired rank and mentorship.
After completing his visit with the ALS, Battaglia held an enlisted call at the base theater, where he discussed Joint Force 2020, activity duty to veteran transition, the Armed Forces NCO Book, health and readiness.
"Resiliency is when you hit barricade in life and you have some decisions to make," said Battaglia. "You can face it, go through it, go over it, under it, or run the other way; In the armed forces we don't run the other way. That barricade may knock you down but you get up and dust yourself off."
The enlisted call closed with Battaglia holding an open-floor discussion with the audience.
Following the enlisted call, Battaglia continued his tour of the base visiting the 1st and 192nd Fighter Wings, the 480th Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Wing and 497th ISR Group.
