By Senior Airman Jason J. Brown 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service has partnered with the "Birdies for the Brave" program to host a special fundraising event at the Langley Air Force Base Exchange shoppette June 12.

From 3 to 5 p.m., guests will be able to attempt golf putts on a portable putting green at the store. For each putt made, "Birdies for the Brave" will donate $10 to benefit eight national military homefront groups, including:
  • United Through Reading
  • Special Operations Warrior Foundation
  • Homes For Our Troops
  • Navy Seal Foundation
  • Wounded Warrior Project
  • Military Warriors Support Foundation
  • Operation Homefront
  • Green Beret Foundation
"Birdies for the Brave" is a military outreach founded by PGA pro Phil Mickelson and his wife, Amy, to support U.S. Service members and their families. Since 2005, the program has raised millions of dollars for military homefront groups that provide critical programs and services to meet the specialized needs of wounded warriors and military families.
