Why is there used furniture behind the Exchange pharmacy?

"Ask the JBLE Commander" is a forum for the Joint Base Langley-Eustis community to ask questions, provide feedback and voice concerns about Langley Air Force Base and Fort Eustis directly to Col. John J. Allen, Jr., the 633rd Air Base Wing commander.

Question:

There is used furniture behind the Exchange pharmacy. It continues to get rained on and more keeps getting piled up. In the past, items like that went immediately for resale/auction. I also observed an old pine tree in the parking lot, behind the commissary that has old limbs that were not removed and have now piled up, in turn collecting trash. The tree should be pruned properly.

  Response:

The Exchange at Langley Air Force Base is currently under renovation. The food court is one area of the Exchange being upgraded, and as a result of construction, tables and chairs from the old food court have been deemed unfit for resale or auction. These items have been temporarily placed outside, behind the Exchange pharmacy, and will be removed and properly disposed of. While the renovation efforts may be unsightly for now, the upgrades to the Exchange will bring an improved look, layout, and more shopping space in the future. Also, a work order has been submitted to the 633rd Civil Engineering Squadron, so the appropriate organization can properly tend to the old pine tree.
