JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. –
U.S. Army Lt. Col. Megan Gumpf relinquished command of the 10th Transportation Battalion, 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary), to Lt. Col. Kimberly Nash during a change of command ceremony July 15 at Fort Eustis' 3rd Port, Virginia.
During Gumpf's tenure with the 10th Trans. Bn., the unit deployed to Kuwait and executed operations in Alaska, and on the Pacific, East and West Coasts.
Colonel Randal Nelson, 7th Trans. Bde. (Ex) commander, gave remarks during the ceremony, thanking Gumpf for her leadership, and welcomed Nash.
"I'd like to think [having] the three new battalion commanders is like playing the triple sevens in Vegas. What a jackpot," said Nelson. "Looking at [Nash's] resume, she is exactly who we want to take command - a well-seasoned transporter with great experience and ambition."
Nash expressed enthusiasm and pride in taking her new role as commander.
"What a truly momentous day this is for me," said Nash. "Words cannot express how honored and excited I am to command the Soldiers of the 10th Transportation Battalion."
