Resolute Brigade celebrates teamwork at traditional ball

By Spc. Marian Alleva 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary) Public Affairs

Nearly 600 Soldiers from the 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary) and their guests gathered at the Hampton Roads Convention Center to celebrate the 2nd Annual Resolute Ball, Sept. 19.

U.S. Army Col. Randal Nelson, 7th Trans. Bde. (Ex) commander, provided those in attendance an overview of the many changes the past year has brought the brigade.

"We are here tonight to celebrate and build on our relationships across the team," Nelson said. "In the last year, we transformed from a sustainment brigade to a transportation brigade (expeditionary). We inactivated companies and the Special Troops Battalion, transitioned Soldiers out of the Army; to different organizations within the brigade; and to different installations across the U.S. Most importantly, you got all this done without a single Resolute Soldier lost or seriously injured."

The guest speaker for the evening was Maj. Gen. Stephen R. Lyons, Combined Arms Support Command commanding general. Lyons reflected on the professionalism and pride that he's seen in Soldiers.

"Here tonight is a group of highly trained, disciplined Soldiers," Lyons said. "You're all Soldiers with enormous competence, character, courage and commitment to a greater cause."

The evening included a social hour, portraits, a receiving line, dining and dancing.

Glasses were charged and toasts were made to the President of the United States, the United States Army, Soldiers, and families, and in honor of fallen Soldiers.

"I look forward to another great year," Nelson said. "I'm not sure where we'll be asked to go, but together we are going to be ready. Our families will be ready and we're going to be resolute."
