Eustis to host Education Fair

By Staff Sgt. Teresa J. Cleveland 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

The Herb Bateman Army Education Center at Fort Eustis will host an Education Fair for U.S. Service members and family members looking to continue their education from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Nov. 20.

"This education fair is a great way for Service members, civilian employees and their families to get a better understanding of their options to continue their education," said Jovito Aboc, Herb Bateman Army Education Center senior education services specialist. "Education fairs can assist students in making some of the most important decisions in their lives."

The fair will feature briefings from Troops to Teachers, the Warrant Officer Program and Green to Gold at various times throughout the day. These programs give Service members options for commissioning, as well as opportunities to become teachers when they separate from military service.

Along with the briefings, more than 20 local and distance learning colleges and universities will have displays and representatives available to speak with attendees. Representatives can discuss admission requirements, financial aid options, scholarships and the various programs each offers.

"This gives schools the opportunity to showcase their services and the latest academic innovations they provide," said Aboc. "It also gives the schools an opportunity to make good impressions about their school and their programs."

Prospective student and parents will have the opportunity to interact face-to-face with school representatives and learn about multiple colleges and universities in one centralized location.

Prospective students and parents can also inquire about internships, externships, online learning versus classroom learning an d referrals for employment after graduation.

Counselors from the Army Education Center will be available to answer questions regarding continuing education and tuition assistance or schedule appointments to work with prospective students in their office.

For additional information on the Education Fair, contact the Army Education Center at 878-2083, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday 1 to 5 p.m.
