128th Avn. Bde. hosts NCO, PSG of the year competition

Recently, U.S. Army noncommissioned officers from the 128th Aviation Brigade competed in an annual NCO and Advanced Individual Training Platoon sergeant competition at Fort Eustis, Virginia.

Throughout the competition, the Soldiers competed in physically and mentally demanding events including a confidence course, written examinations, a physical fitness test and a board judged by five sergeants major.

"The competition is used to identify the best qualified NCO and AIT PSG," said Master Sgt. Julio Peralta, 128th Avn. Bde. assistant S3 NCO in charge. "The competition builds esprit de corps and challenges the NCOs to keep their Soldier skills [sharp]."

Soldiers who earned NCO and PSG quarterly awards within the brigade competed in the annual competition.

"I am grateful for this opportunity," said Staff Sgt. Francisco Gallegos, C Company, 1-210th Aviation Regiment instructor, "It is nice to know that my leadership felt my hard work and dedication was good enough for the opportunity to represent my unit."
 
The winners will be announced Feb. 27, 2015, and will advance to the next level of competition at the divisional stage.
