AFSPC command chief visits 83rd NOS, 735th SCOG Airmen

By Staff Sgt. Teresa J. Cleveland 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Douglas McIntyre, Air Force Space Command command chief, visited the 83rd Network Operations Squadron, a Joint Base Langley-Eustis mission partner and subordinate unit of the 67th Cyberspace Wing, and the 735th Supply Chain Operations Group, also a JBLE mission partner and subordinate unit of the 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing, at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, May 15, 2015.

McIntyre visited the mission partner units to discuss the importance of job performance and knowledge with the Airmen assigned.

As the command chief for AFSPC, McIntyre is responsible for organizing, equipping, training and maintaining mission-ready space and cyberspace forces and capabilities.

McIntyre began his visit by having breakfast with Airmen from the 83rd NOS followed by tours of the 83rd NOS operations floor and lunch with the squadron's noncommissioned officers.

During an all-call, the chief presented coins to outstanding performers and fielded questions from Airmen.  He spoke to Airmen about the value of mission performance and knowledge throughout their careers.

"I can't stress enough the importance of Airmen knowing their job and doing it well," said McIntyre. "We have the most professional, motivated and dedicated Air Force and it will continue to show if they perform their jobs to the best of their ability."

He told the Airmen they are "world champions," and they should remind themselves of that in the mirror each day before they go to work.

"Our Airmen belong to the 'World Champion Air Force,'" said McIntyre. "Each day you get to put that uniform on, you are part of a world championship team because nobody can do what your Air Force can do."

McIntyre wrapped up his visit by dropping by the 735th SCOG to receive a mission brief and present coins to more outstanding performers within the unit.
