Is there a way to reassess the new pool hours to accommodate the varied schedules of JBLE community members?

"Ask the JBLE Commander" is a forum for the Joint Base Langley-Eustis community to ask questions, provide feedback and voice concerns about Langley Air Force Base and Fort Eustis directly to Col. Caroline M. Miller, the 633rd Air Base Wing commander.

Question:

Recently, the Shellbank pool's morning hours have changed from 9 to 10 a.m. to 6 to 9 a.m. This causes some lane availability issues and overcrowding. Is there a way to reassess the new hours to accommodate the varied schedules of JBLE community members?

  Response:

Thank you for bringing your concerns regarding the Shellbank pool operating hours to my attention. Mr. Jeff Tessler, Community Services chief, has revisited the recent changes, and as a result, we have been able to adjust the pool's operating hours. The pool will be open from 6 to 10 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 4 to 7 p.m. Making the best use of our limited financial resources while providing the best value for our community is our goal, and your input helped us better achieve this. If you have any additional questions, please contact Mr. Tessler at (757) 251‐8516.
