JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. –
More than 80 U.S. Air Force Airmen and French Air Force (FrAF) Service members came together for a wreath-laying ceremony Dec. 11, at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia.
The event was held to commemorate those who lost their lives during the Paris terrorist attacks on Nov. 13.
Colonel Pete Fesler, 1st Fighter Wing commander, gave remarks during the ceremony and expressed the importance of supporting allied nations when faced with tragic events.
"We understand the problems of our nations, and this [ceremony] helps to show solidarity between [us]," said Fesler. "It also shows that we are committed to trying to solve this problem and protect our people."
French Air Force Brig. Gen. Phillip Lavigne expressed similar sentiments, highlighting the significance of remembering those whose lives were taken and the families who were impacted.
"Thank you for being shoulder to shoulder, today, in the past, and in the future, here and abroad, sharing the same values of freedom, human rights, and democracy."
